Tebogo Langerman got the first goal for United, in the 8th minute, after a pass from Thabo Mongalo.

In the 20th minute the two players switched roles, with Mongalo making it 2-0 after a pass from Langerman.

Siyabonga Nkosi sent a ball through to Dario Monteiro who made it 3-0.  Swallows reduced the deficit in the 84th minute, through Lwazi Maziya, but it was too little too late for the Swazi team.

SuperSport carry a significant lead into the home fixture, to be played in Pretoria later in the month.

February 11, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comment
Piggs Peak Casino Swaziland, home of All Africa Poker, will be holding Gambling Board approved educational poker evenings at the sponsored racetrack events, where patrons can learn the basics of Texas Hold-em poker from poker tutors in between betting on the horses on the tote.
The company is sponsoring night racing at Turffontein in Gauteng and Greyville in Durban, which have more than 30 night meetings scheduled, as well as twilight meetings at Kenilworth in Cape Town.

“The atmosphere at night racing is electric and provides a completely different experience to day-time events,” says Dia Welch, group marketing manager of Piggs Peak Casino. “It’s a great opportunity for the public to be part of this different format of horseracing. There are many similarities between horseracing and poker, including the terminology used, and supporters will be able to draw parallels between the two forms of entertainment at their leisure.”

A natural progression

She says sponsoring night racing was a natural progression for the company. “We’re a gaming entertainment company and we’d like to educate more people about how to have fun while enjoying gambling responsibly, be it horseracing or poker. This is a great way for new and experienced players to take part. We are very proud of the partnership we have formed with Phumelela and Gold Circle and we hope that the punters will enjoy the synergies of our relationship.”

Phumelela sales executive Clyde Basel said Phumelela and Gold Circle were delighted to be joining forces with Piggs Peak Casino. “Many horseplayers also play at casinos and we see it as a natural partnership that will be good for both parties and all our customers.”

Night racing provides an opportunity for people unable to attend day meetings to experience the thrill of horseracing and takes the sport to a new level. It’s also an ideal opportunity for corporates to treat staff, customers and suppliers to an exciting and unique evening.

When Google Controls your life

February 10, 2010 · Posted in Technology · Comment

Perhaps the story of the moment concerns Google’s newly launched service , Google Buzz , set to revolutionally change the world of social networking .
I have been thinking , It really is quite surprising  how much Google knows about our businesses, adverts we should see, directions to take to my next appointment of the day, personal lives, organize my documents and memos , manage my appointment, search habits and even what we like to do on the weekend – if you are signed in to your Google account that is.  For some of us we earn a substantial monthly income from Google Adsense.

The Google Dashboard essentially summarises everything you do within all the Google products that includes:

  • Gmail
  • Calendar
  • Docs
  • Web History
  • YouTube
  • Orkut
  • Picasa
  • Reader
  • Alerts
  • Talk
  • Google Adsense
  • Google Maps

Is not concerning to people that Google knows what pictures you store in Picasa, what news articles you like to tune in to, what video’s you like to watch and who is emailing you? Given this, it is little wonder they have come up with Google Wave – set to revolutionise the world of communication.

Chosing a CMS for your Website

February 10, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · 1 Comment

Choose the CMS that fits your websites purpose.

Not all content management systems are created equal. You need to look at the main functions of your website to find the CMS that is right for you. If you are going to be working with a blog, one that provides a quick easy publishing from anywhere maybe good for you. Systems are available that allow users to make new blog post through the usual backend interface, but also by email and through applications on the iPhone, Android, and Blackberry devices. Alternatively some CMS’s are designed with multimedia in mind. These CMS are aimed at providing the best tools for audio and video sharing, but do not provide the robust text authoring tools that blogging platform would provide. Read more

Dope features in Joomla! 1.6

February 10, 2010 · Posted in Technology · Comment

Joomla 1.6 is slowly but surely coming. I have to admit I am one supporter of Joomla and am eagerly , as always waiting for the full release date.  Lets now take a look at some of the features so far.

Improved template manager

Joomla! core member Andrew Eddie wrote in the following article about the new Template Manager in Joomla! 1.6. While there are some small improvements (like splitting up the template parameters into Basic Parameters and Advanced Parameters) the biggest feature seems to be Template Styles. Instead of just assigning a Joomla! template only once to a couple of pages through Page Assignment, with Joomla! 1.6 you can create multiple styles and assign each style to certain pages. Even though it has been practices in some Joomla! templates where we see options of changing background color or page width, it was , however not fully intergrated in the Joomla! system.

An example: Let’s say you have a Joomla! template which offers a parameter to switch the overall color of the website (red, green and blue). Now, if you want to simulate various sections in your site, you might want section 1 to have a red color, section 2 to have a green color and section 3 to have a blue color. Because Joomla! 1.5 only allows you to assign a full template to certain pages, the only workaround is to make three copies of the same template.

Syntax highlighting when editing index.php

A major improvement is also the syntax highlighting when editing code through the Template Manager. With Joomla! 1.5 we always recommend web developers to use a separate HTML-editing program (like Dreamweaver) and then upload the files through FTP to Joomla!. One of the main reasons for this is syntax highlighting, which adds nice colouring to all HTML-code, CSS-code and JavaScript-code, so web developers can reckognize tags easily.

Now with Joomla! 1.6 the Template Manager offers syntax highlighting – making it much easier to modify templates through the Joomla! Administrator panel.

Redirect System Plugin

One other feature of Joomla! 1.6 is the Redirect System Plugin, which is accompanied by the Redirection component. The plugin allows for redirection of 404-pages to other pages. Instead of just showing an ugly red error-box when a page could not be found, the Redirection functionality allows you to configure destination URLs to which the visitor should be redirected.

So much to look forward to the new version

Do You Have the Right Life Insurance?

February 10, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · 1 Comment

Having adequate life insurance should be an important part of your financial planning. The
type(s) you choose will depend on your needs and goals.
Life insurance was established to provide funds at death to cover funeral and burial costs, pay
final expenses and debts, provide an income for dependents (especially those with dependent
children or a spouse), and leave a legacy for children and grandchildren. In addition, it provides
a means for tax-efficient savings.
Before we can explore the benefits of life insurance in more detail, it is necessary to first
understand the main types of policies and how they work.
There are primarily two kinds of life insurance and you could have them for different reasons.
You may find that a combination of the two is the best solution for your situation.

TERM LIFE INSURANCE
Term insurance provides coverage for a set term which can either be based on a number of
years, such as one, five, ten or twenty years, or based on your age when the contract expires,
such as when you turn 60.
The premium you pay stays the same for the duration of the contract. The sum insured is only
payable if you die while the contract is in force. If you survive to the end of the period, the policy
is then worthless.
At the end of the selected term, you can renew the contract for the same term without having to
prove that you are still insurable. It gets more expensive as you get older. The premium will
increase and will be calculated based on your age at the time of renewal. This increase can
become expensive in later years. You may find the cost unaffordable as you get older. Also,
some term policies are not renewable after a certain age.
Because you are buying a short term insurance policy, the cost is lower than permanent life
insurance. It is something to consider if you want to protect your spouse and children at a low
cost should something happen to you.
You may also consider purchasing it as an alternative to mortgage insurance. When you
purchase mortgage insurance, the benefit decreases over time as your mortgage gets paid off.
With term life insurance, the benefit remains the same until the term expires.
You may convert your term life insurance policy into a permanent life insurance policy at any
time. Depending on the conversion options, the ability to convert to permanent life insurance
without providing proof of health can expire as early as age 65 or 70. The premium will be
calculated based on your age at the time of conversion.

PERMANENT LIFE INSURANCE
Permanent life insurance provides protection for your life, not just for a specific term.
If your mortgage is paid off and your kids have grown up, you may wonder why you need
permanent life insurance since you have no dependents. You may want to consider it because,
in addition to paying a death benefit to your beneficiary, there is also a cash value:
1. The cash values inside of your policy can be accessed to supplement your retirement
income through a policy loan, partial surrender or loan strategy, if needed.
2. Any money invested inside a permanent life insurance policy grows on a tax-deferred
basis, within certain regulatory limits. This is especially attractive if you have maximized
both your RRSP and Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) contributions.
3. The cash values can be used to pay your estate taxes when you die so your
beneficiaries won’t have to pay the taxes on their inheritance. Keep in mind that life
insurance proceeds in provinces other than Quebec avoid probate and estate taxes if
they are made payable to a named beneficiary and not to your estate.
There are two kinds of permanent life insurance:

1. Whole life insurance policies have level and fixed premiums, usually payable for your
entire lifetime, which can’t be increased or decreased. The premium payments in the
early years exceed the amount required so you basically are overpaying in the early
years to subsidise your later years. You have no investment decisions to make as you
are provided with guaranteed cash values.
There are two kinds of whole life insurance policies:
a. Participating policies – you participate in the insurance company’s profits and the
plan pays out a dividend which can provide an increasing cash value and death
benefit
b. Non-participating policies – these policies are lower in cost and don’t pay out a
dividend
2. Universal life insurance policies offer flexible premiums, a choice of level or increasing
death benefits, and the ability to take premium holidays if you want to stop paying your
premiums in the later years.
When a premium is paid, the money is deposited into an investment account, which you
have investment control over. As such, you can end up with a significant portfolio
depending on the investment decisions you make. The cost of your life insurance and
administration are deducted from the investment account.

Freshly Ground Coming to House on Fire on March 28

February 8, 2010 · Posted in Uncategorized · Comment

Freshlyground formed in early 2002, and is made up of seven talented and diverse musicians from South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Fronted by the diminutive but dynamic Zolani Mahola, the band exudes a live performance energy that has been the bedrock of their success. The experienced rhythm section of Peter Cohen (drums) & Josh Hawks (bass) is complimented by guitarist Julio Sigauque, keyboardist Seredeal Scheepers, Simon Attwell (flute, mbira, sax and harmonica) and violinist Kyla Rose Smith. Although hailing from diverse backgrounds, between them the band’s members weave a musical magic that is highly infectious and undeniably groovy.

In 2003 Freshlyground launched their debut album, Jika Jika under their own Freeground Records label, the immediate success of which firmly cemented the band as one of South Africa’s most successful young acts.

Freshlyground released their second studio album Nomvula in July 2004. Nomvula was recorded and produced by JB Arthur and Sibusiso Victor Masondo. The album sparked interest from Sony BMG Africa, who signed the band and released Nomvula in September that year. Radio quickly picked up on the single ‘Doo Be Doo’ and the catchy song went on to become a crossover favorite amongst a diverse spread of stations and their listeners. ‘Doo Be Doo’ was the most played song in South Africa in 2005. The major success of ‘Doo Be Doo’ was followed by the singles ‘I’d Like’, ‘Zithande’, ‘Things Have Changed’ and the title track of the album Nomvula.

The album sold 300 000 units in South Africa alone- earning it multi-platinum status. The success and broad appeal of the band was celebrated in November 2006 when Freshlyground won the MTV Europe Award in the category Best African Act. The award placed the band firmly on the international music map and earned them further recognition on home soil as significant South African cultural exports.

The success of Nomvula was followed by Ma Cheri – Freshlyground’s third studio album, released in September 2007. The album’s release was followed by a major South African tour attended by over 25 000 people across four cities. The tour was produced by Freshlyground and supported by Volkswagen South Africa. The tour successfully raised the performance and production standards of local touring, putting the band on par with international acts in terms of production scale and value. Ma Cheri has sold 80 000 units to date in South Africa and the single Pot Belly is another major crossover success, and is play listed on all South African radio stations.

Five years on Freshlyground are a still a sensation. In South Africa audiences of every race cram in to see them. Old people get up and dance. Hip black teenagers sing to their lyrics. White kids emulate their moves. The very presence of this band in South Africa is a promise for a harmonious future. But they don’t sit still for the picture.

Winners of 4 South African Music Awards, 4 Metro FM Awards and an MTV Europe Music Award for “Best African Act”, FreshlyGround have become the musical voice of a nation’s adolescent democracy

What is Bloogle ?

February 4, 2010 · Posted in Swaziland, Technology · Comment

Over the past few weeks I’ve had many questions from friends alike asking me the meaning for my choice of name for my blog. Well, let me say it took a deep thought and the word derived from:

“Bl” – For Blog (This is a Blog)
“oogle” – From Google which is not only the search engine of the moment, but basically now controls the internet (yes it does )

So combining the two comes up with “Bloogle” which means searching Blogs using Google.
Thats it No more questions on this subject.
