Google, which currently answers 1 billion search queries per day, described the move as a “fundamental change” that will save the world’s internet users a combined 11 hours per second, or 111 years per day. The update has been trailed over the past two days with ‘Google Doodles’ on the company’s homepage. The product, named “Instant” and currently available only to users who are logged in to Google, will save typical searchers between two and five seconds per query. It should take the average query time down from approximately 24 seconds to around 20 seconds. The company also estimates that “dynamically predicting what people search for reduces the time it takes to enter a typical query by 50 per cent”.

The service will also display a series of its best guesses as users type, and searchers can then scroll down to the most appropriate.

The company estimates that each Google search will now generate between five and seven times as many requests to its servers, but because each search generates only a very small amount of data to transmit back to each computer, the new service is not likely to strain either broadband networks or Google’s own servers. Users on particularly slow connections will automatically be pushed to the original Google search, but will have the option to select “Instant”.

To do this, go to “account settings” on your Facebook page and click on “change” next to “account security.” There, you’ll see where else your Facebook account is logged in, including the type of device and the city it’s in or near. To log out of any of them, click “end activity.”

Facebook is making this available over the next couple of weeks.

It will be accessible on computers, but not mobile devices.

The report stated that the service would operate via web browser as well as through Google’s Android cellular platform. The Android system has in recent times emerged as the iPhone’s closest competitor, with sales outpacing the Apple smartphone in early 2010.

The music industry is reportedly in full support of Google’s venture, as they are keen to shake Apple iTunes’ 80% market share.

Though no official statement has yet been made, insiders say that Google may look to launch the service with the next generation of Android software, in late 2010.

For personalised number plates, motorists will have to fill an application form.Those whose blue book states that they should renew before the 30th of next month would be getting the new number plate numbers when they go to the revenue offices.

The vehicles will also have a validation label which will have the car owner’s information and all about the vehicle, thus making it easy to be found when it is stolen.

Private cars will have different colour for its number plates while government vehicles will also have a different colour.
When admitting the application for the personalised number plates a person has to submit E200 and when the application has been approved then a fee of E1 800 is paid.
Even those who have just renewed their blue books are welcome to get the new plates when they have time to go to the revenue offices.

Powerbet Gaming argues that while there are no licensed online casinos legally operating in South Africa, they offer legal betting services online

The National Gambling Board recently released a press statement highlighting a Northern High Court ruling which “declared interactive gambling illegal to operate in South Africa”.

The Northern Gauteng High Court dismissed the application by Piggs Peak Casino, which operates and is licensed in terms of Swaziland laws, to declare that it lawfully advertises in South Africa as a licensed entity. Piggs Peak Casino relies on a website with a computer server that is located in Swaziland.

According to the National Gambling Board this ruling affirms the South African laws that interactive gambling taking place in South Africa currently remains illegal.

Not all gambling illegal

Powerbet Gaming, which operates Voltbet, said that while Internet or online gambling is currently illegal in South Africa, there are still legal online betting services in the country.

“There is considerable confusion among members of the public, banking institutions and the media regarding the legal position of online gambling and betting in South Africa,” said Powerbet Gaming.

“Internet or online gambling, as per the notice from the National Gambling Board, refers to online casino gambling. There are currently no licensed online casinos legally operating in South Africa.”

“Powerbet Gaming, the operator of Voltbet.com, is licensed by The Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board to offer internet sports betting/online bookmaking.  Internet betting has been offered legally in South Africa for several years, within a well-established legal framework, and administered by provincial and national boards,” the company said.
Powerbet Gaming further points out that there is no legal or regulatory prohibition on using your credit card to bet with services like Voltbet.com

The National Gambling Board confirms Powerbet Gaming’s statements, saying that the Northern Gauteng High Court ruling does not impact on licensed online betting activities regulated in South Africa.

“South African licensed online betting sites and any other SA bookmaker websites remain legal to operate and do not fall into this [online gambling] category,” the National Gambling Board said.
